Hi Julie – when you initiate a download of all your photos using the “Download Your Information” feature on Facebook, you can navigate away from the page or even close it after the request has been made. Facebook processes this download in the background, and once it’s ready, you will receive a notification both via the email associated with your Facebook account and a notification within Facebook itself, alerting you that your download is complete and ready to be downloaded. This allows you to continue using Facebook or other tasks without having to wait on the page for the process to complete.

However, in the next sentences, you state that a 5×7 photo is portrait, and a 5×7 photo is landscape. Shouldn’t a landscape be 7×5? Seven inches length x 5 inches height? Or am I missing something?

Comment on Luminar Neo Review (My Latest 2024 Test Results) by Jeff Collier https://shotkit.com/luminar-neo-review/#comment-200853 Tue, 06 Feb 2024 22:30:20 +0000 https://shotkit.com/?p=124830#comment-200853 In reply to tim johnston.

Glad to hear that you have retired and have more time to pursue your passion for photography.

Just a few considerations for you:

Here are some considerations:

Technical Quality: Luminar’s AI tools can produce excellent results in terms of basic adjustments like exposure, contrast, and color correction. However, some advanced editing techniques or fine-tuning may be more limited compared to Photoshop or Lightroom Classic.

Artistic Quality: Ultimately, what matters most in competitions or exhibitions is the artistic vision and execution of your photographs. If Luminar helps you achieve your creative vision effectively, then it can certainly be a viable option.

Compatibility: Make sure that the file formats and color management in Luminar are compatible with the submission requirements of the RPS or any other competitions you enter.

Learning Curve: Luminar’s user-friendly interface may make it easier for beginners to get started with photo editing compared to Photoshop or Lightroom Classic, which have steeper learning curves.

Perception: While Luminar is a capable tool, some professional photographers and judges may still prefer Adobe products due to their industry-standard status and extensive feature sets. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean that Luminar-produced images will be seen as inferior; ultimately, the quality of your images will speak for themselves.

Experimentation: Don’t be afraid to experiment with different software and techniques to find what works best for you. You may find that a combination of Luminar for quick edits and Photoshop for more advanced adjustments yields the best results for your workflow.

Go for it!

I have just joined RPS to give me a kick up the backside to get back into photography now I am retired. As I am sure you know images that are submitted to RPS for comps, distinctions, exhibitions etc need to be excellent quality. It seems most photographers seem to use Photoshop, LR Classic , or LRCC. I would like to know if using Luminar with its AI quick fixes etc etc would give me the same quality post editing results, or would they be spotted as been inferior?

Is the 12 a worthwhile upgrade?

Comment on 7 Best Lenses for Sony a7III in 2024 (Budget to Premium) by Jeff Collier https://shotkit.com/best-lenses-for-sony-a7iii/#comment-200818 Mon, 05 Feb 2024 21:25:55 +0000 https://ausrust.johnnyvps.com/?p=71061#comment-200818 In reply to Sean.

No worries;

When shooting outdoor sports, consider the following tips:

Use a fast shutter speed to freeze action. For sports like soccer and baseball, a shutter speed of at least 1/500s or faster is generally recommended.

Set your camera to continuous autofocus (AF-C) mode to track moving subjects.

Pay attention to the lighting conditions. If you’re shooting in low light, a lens with a wide aperture can be beneficial.

My top 3 recommendations to enhance your shooting:

Sony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS:
This lens is known for its excellent optical quality and fast f/2.8 aperture, making it suitable for capturing action in low-light conditions. The 70-200mm focal length range is versatile for sports photography, providing the reach you need to capture distant subjects.

Sony FE 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 GM OSS:
If you need even more reach, the 100-400mm focal length range allows you to get closer to the action. This lens is well-regarded for its image quality and is a good choice for outdoor sports where you might be shooting from a distance.

Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM:
While not as long in focal length, the 24-70mm f/2.8 GM lens is a versatile zoom lens that covers a range commonly used for sports photography. The wide aperture of f/2.8 allows for good low-light performance and the flexibility to capture a variety of scenes.

I hope that helps.

I was wondering if I could still pick you brain here as I’m just finding this post. I am very new to photography and still trying to learn what I can. I have the sony A7iii with the kit lens and I was looking at options for an upgrade for shooting outdoor sports (mainly my son’s soccer/baseball games) do you have any recommendations for my use case?

Comment on SmartAlbums Review – Album Builder for Photographers by Paul Rumohr https://shotkit.com/smart-albums-review/#comment-200809 Mon, 05 Feb 2024 16:35:03 +0000 https://ausrust.johnnyvps.com/?p=6978#comment-200809 I purchased Smart Albums Lifetime Licenses for a lot of money and then they moved to the subscription model and knee capped the latest version I had so I couldn’t cloud proof.

It’s my opinion they are a greedy and dishonest company. I would not support them after they did this to me and probably hundreds if not thousands of professional photographers.

Find a great proofing solution, but please, do not choose SmartAlbums.
