Family & Maternity | Last Updated: February 14, 2021

Hello! I’m Denis Persenen and I am from Saint-Petersburg, Russia. I take family pictures and pictures of weddings.

With the birth of my child 5.5 years ago, photos of ordinary people for family archives became my passion.

At first, I took pictures of friends’ families in their natural environment without taking any special training. These photos attracted great attention. The pictures were filled with a cozy atmosphere and the magic of sincerity, that cannot be seen in studio ones.

Many customers liked such pictures and they started to invite me to their homes to take their portraits.

The main difficulty in such shooting is having little space and little light.

I work hard to make every shoot interesting and varied. I take into account my knowledge of diversities, lighting schemes, backgrounds, angles and camera positioning.

My main camera is a Canon 1DX. It is huge and old. But I like the human skin colors, which can be obtained in conjunction with my lenses. Auto focus is also fast and tenacious.

The main part of the shooting is done with 3 lenses.

I like the light picture my Canon 50mm f/1.2 creates. A lot of my shots are created with the f/2.0 aperture, and the lens holds side light excellently.

Canon 85mm f/1.2 II. The effect of spying on the subject is created by a long viewing angle. I step away from people I take pictures of and they are left to themselves.

I use a Canon 35mm f/1.4 II to create a more general scene or the effect of presence.

I also use a Canon 135mm f/2.0 to take photos of halves of faces by means of a macro adapter. I like the macro effect with a long-focus lens.

Canon 24mm f/3.5 tilt-shift and Canon 45mm f/2.8 tilt-shift lenses help me to create an interesting general scene or to remove unnecessary details from the frame.

I also have Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 II and Canon 5D Mark IV. I use them for documentary style and whenever I need to use two cameras at the same time.

I use a flashlight with a temperature of 2700K to create backlighting. I like the warm yellow light it gives – I like the rays of the setting sun.

My wife and my daughter are in the pictures with the equipment. They inspire me for development, for creation of something new and to find interest in every day!
